Job Description:
Premier Veterinary Group in Orland Park is looking for a
full-time Veterinary Technician to join our Medical Oncology
Department.The primary responsibility is to triage and provide care
for patients presenting to and hospitalized with our Medical
Oncology. The successful candidate embodies our culture in treating
every client with the utmost courteous and attentive treatment
possible, with a keen sensitivity to the emotional bond between
owners and their pets. This is a 40 hour per week position.
Participation in some holiday coverage is required.We at Premier

Responsibilities: Provide extensive client education on Medical
Oncology issues including but not limited to disease processes,
drug side effects, medication, and triaging phone callsAdminister
IV and oral chemotherapeutics with proper handling utilizing a
laminar flow hood/safety cabinet.Obtaining and processing
laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine
needle aspiratesUtilizing different modalities of imaging for
patient assessment including radiograph, ultrasound and CT
scanExecuting, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and
anesthetic eventsProvide comfort and nursing care for all
patientsQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each of the above listed
responsibilities satisfactory. The requirements listed below are

Skills and Experience:Chemotherapeutic handling and
administrationGeneral nursing care and treatment of
patientsAdministering and monitoring anesthesiaAssisting the
veterinarian in proceduresAdmitting and discharging patientsClient
communication and educationEducational Requirements:High School
education or equivalentSeveral years experience of related job
experienceCertification or licensing as a veterinary technician
preferredExperience with administering chemotherapy is
preferredCompetencies:Self-Motivator: Ability to work efficiently
and effectively, proactive with approachCommunicator: Successful
communication is essential with all clients and stakeholders,
considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings and
capabilities of different people in different situationsTechnical
