Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Clinical Resource Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Ability to float to multiple units and provide care to diverse patient populations. Description: The Clinical Resource Unit is committed to our Nursing Professional Practice Model. Our dedicated nursing staff, nurse leaders, interdisciplinary team members, and physician partners practice on providing specialized medical and nursing care to various inpatient units. Our highly-trained staff utilizes the most current technology and equipment. Medical diagnoses include various conditions such as coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia, myocardial infarction, dysrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, strokes, cancer, cellulitis, post-surgical care, and chest pain. The environment is fast-paced, exciting, and always evolving. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. You will implement procedures and theories related to your specific area of practice. You will maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. You will complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs. You will implement the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. You will modify plans of care based on continuous evaluation. You will take responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. You will communicate directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. You will offer constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. You will confer with colleagues to expand your knowledge base. You will identify your own learning needs and take the initiative in addressing them. You will fulfill all departmental competencies. You will float to various inpatient units as required. You will provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to offer patient care. You will conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, and evaluations of patient care. You will act as a resource to staff from various units. You will coordinate care among multidisciplinary team members to facilitate high-quality patient care. You will manage care of both acute and chronically ill patients. You will collaboratively identify patient goals of care and design care plans with patients and families. You will implement interventions as needed, including medication administration and evaluation of effects. You will prepare patients for procedures and provide pain management. You will perform IV venipuncture, blood administration, and monitor labs. You will discharge patients and provide instruction for a safe transition from the hospital. You will document all care using electronic medical records. You will ensure team huddles occur and attend them. You will delegate appropriately with follow-up. You will ensure basic care is delivered according to standards. You will handle conflict management and maintain professional communication with team members. You will provide post-operative care for the complex surgical population. Required skills include the ability to float to multiple units and deliver care to diverse patient populations. You should be capable of managing care for both acute and chronically ill patients. You must possess skills in developing, implementing, and modifying patient care plans. You should have proficiency in medication administration and evaluating medication effects. Skills in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care are essential. You must demonstrate skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration. You should be able to accurately document care using electronic medical records. The ability to educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions is important. You should be able to provide constructive feedback and assist in the professional development of peers. Skills in critical thinking to assess patient status and take appropriate action are necessary. You must be able to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members. Prioritizing patient safety and adhering to all safety standards is essential. You should be able to complete patient bedside shift reports, conduct hourly rounds, and maintain updated patient communication boards. Delegating tasks appropriately and following up on delegated tasks is required. Maintaining a positive attitude that promotes a healthy work environment is vital. You should keep a diligent focus on answering patient call lights promptly. You must use critical thinking to evaluate overall patient conditions.
