Opportunity at a Glance: We seek aPart-time Information Systems Technician I, to provide support to the award winning Orland Park Police Department in performing a variety of computer system support duties, telephone system support, voice communication system support duties and complex clerical duties relevant to Information and Technology.Orland Park is a premier community located 30 miles southwest of Chicagos Loop with a residential population of nearly 60,000, and is the commercial and retail hub of the Chicago south suburban region.The Police department is one of the most visibleVillage departments and works to keepthe Orland Parkcommunitysafe, while overseeing the enforcement of laws and ordinances. Key Responsibilities: This position will configure, install, and maintain computer and network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software relative to the Police Department; maintain department wide PC and systems software inventory, plan and execute upgrades as necessary, along with keeping software licensing current; administer users on the network; install, configure, and maintain the Police Department WAN servers and workstations; manage and document computer system backups when needed; gather computer hardware and software specifications to contact vendors; and create purchase requisitions for computer related hardware and software items.Additionally, this role is also responsible for supporting antivirus and other security tools; performing as a help desk resource for all Police Department employees with various computer and telephone system needs; and assisting with general operation of any existing or new PC and/or web based operations, along with other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills: One (1) to three (3) years of experience working with PC hardware and software or combination of training and experience is required. An Associate's Degree in Computer Science or training equivalent from a technical or vocational school is preferred.Good oral and written communication skills, record-keeping techniques, and diagnostic capabilities are necessary. The ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with users of varying degrees of skill is also required.Hours scheduled: Up to 29 per week Compensation & Benefits: This is an IMRF (Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund) eligible position.
